Trauma Emergency Department at Hamad General Hospital
Built in two phases, the new Trauma and Emergency Department is a three-fold expansion of the existing Emergency Department intended to cater to the widest range of illnesses and injuries, with focus on patients suffering life-threatening medical needs.
A special facility, incorporated within the new building will be a state-of-the-art, multi-place hyperbaric chamber, will provide emergency medical treatment to those involved in diving accidents. This chamber will also offer improved access to oxygen therapy for patients with several medical conditions.
To ensure the rapid transfer of emergency patients, this new building will be directly linked to the new operating theatre facility at Hamad General Hospital.
Located in front of the existing Emergency Department at Hamad General Hospital, the new trauma and emergency facility will cover four floors and accommodate 226 patient stations.
A full range of diagnostic and treatment facilities will be provided, with enhanced operational links to adjoining buildings for the rapid and efficient transfer of patients, including a direct link to the new operating theatre facility and the Trauma Intensive Care Unit at Hamad General Hospital.
